Hurricane Felix update.
September 6, 2007 by Julie
Update as of Wednesday morning, September 5th:
An initial report has come in from Puerto Cabezas, where Pastor Antonio is located. He talked with Pastor Belcer and said there is damage to the church building (which is also where Pastor Antonio and his family live.) Pastor Belcer would like to fly over to that coast, and help Pastor Antonio with repairs and so forth; an initial estimate is $1000. We still do not know about the needs of the families in the community there, how much damage was sustained by their homes, etc. We will keep you informed as we get reports.
Most importantly, Pastor Antonio reports that there were no lives lost, or injuries to those in his church community; they had all been successfully moved to safety before the storm hit. Praise God for His great love and protection!
——————————————————————————
Pastor Antonio said that he and his family and all of the community surrounding the church had been evacuated by the Nicaraguan army and that they were in a safe place. They have no way of knowing yet what the extent of the damage is, until they are allowed to go back into the community. We do know that power lines and phone lines are down, so communication could be difficult for awhile. If we get other updates we will pass them on. Pastor Antonio was pleading for the prayers of everyone for the people of his church and Puerto Cabezas. Please pray that if and when they do return to the community that they are able to secure food, clean drinking water, etc.As far as the rest of Managua, things are okay, not much different except for A LOT OF RAIN!
