Policies and guidelines of NRN-ND include, but are not limited to:
1. Respecting the place of the pastors and church leaders; this includes sharing and giving through the pastor and the church.
2. Not giving large sums of money (more than $20/30) outside of the knowledge or awareness or approval of NRN and the corresponding pastors.
3. To refrain from building costly homes that set a particular Nicaraguan family apart from others in the same community.
4. To participate in designated organized activities of the church, school and NRN; to refrain from being a distraction, which includes making sure that any individually planned activity does not conflict with these designated ministry activities.
5. Never encourage, invite, promote, or participate in bringing Nicaraguans to the US without prior approval of the NRN-ND Board.
6. To communicate with and seek the approval of the NRN-ND board for all arrangements that significantly affect the NRN ministries.
7. To abstain from using alcoholic beverages when in Nicaragua while participating on an NRN trip, or at any time that you are involved with Nicaraguan individuals or families with whom you became acquainted through NRN.
8. Refrain from engaging in sexual conduct or behavior (except in private with one’s spouse).
9. Forming exclusive (romantic) attachments or relationships with members of the opposite sex is strongly discouraged and considered counter-productive to NRN’s reason for being in Nicaragua.
10. Do not involve any Nicaraguans in overnight hotel stays or invite them to a hotel room.
11. Do not take Nicaraguans to Montelimar (a hotel) or other extravagant resorts.
12. Do not take Nicaraguans on high-risk outings, such as the ziplines (canopy).
13. To respect the parents of children; this includes obtaining their permission for taking young people on outings and not keeping kids out late at night. A signed permission slip will be required for any out-of-town trips/outings.
14. Activities planned during NRN mission trips need prior approval by the official on-site NRN-ND representative(s).
15. Have Emergency Medical Insurance ($2.40/day per person) provided through Dissinger Insurance ANY time that one is in Nicaragua.
These policies have been adopted from the NRN.
